About Liquid Flame Design
Small studio. Plenty of ideas.
We’re Liquid Flame Design—a Colombo-based creative and digital studio with curious minds, an eye for detail, and a founder who likes to know what makes your business tick. We bring branding, design, websites, and digital marketing together, giving you a creative team without having to build one in-house.
Since 2003, we’ve been helping businesses turn “we need to do something about our brand” into something they’re proud to put their name on. Officially registered in 2007, we work with individuals, growing businesses, larger organisations, and agencies who need a discreet white-label partner. Different businesses. Different budgets. The same care for getting it right.
Personally involved. From our first conversation to final review
The person behind the promise
Small by choice. Involved by nature.
LFD is deliberately small. I like knowing our clients, understanding their businesses, and being close enough to the work to care about the tiny things. That’s the kind of studio I wanted to build—and the kind I want to keep.
Our first conversations will usually be with me. I’ll ask questions. Sometimes quite a few. What’s working? What’s frustrating you? What are you hoping happens next? Good questions save a lot of guesswork—and help us put your budget where it can do the most good.
Then I bring in the right people, guide the work, and check every piece before it reaches you. Yes, I’m the one looking at that spacing again.
I don’t personally execute every task, but I take personal responsibility for what we deliver.
You get the skills of a creative and digital team, with me staying close to the brief, the decisions, and the finished work. Your project won’t become a stranger to me once we’ve said hello.
Looking after the long term
Personal service, with continuity built in.
I take personal responsibility for your work, and that includes planning for the unexpected. Your business shouldn’t depend on one person being available—including me.
01
Shared accessTrusted team members have access to the systems needed to support your projects.
02
Documented handoversEssential knowledge and arrangements don’t sit with me alone.
03
Backups in placePart of our preparation for keeping your work supported when circumstances change.
These safeguards are designed to keep your website and ongoing work supported if I’m unexpectedly unavailable, and to help ensure an orderly handover if circumstances at LFD change.
My story
It started with a smile. And a KFC uniform.
Customer care. Creative thinking. Technical curiosity. Every chapter still shapes the way I work.
Before the branding briefs, there was a KFC till in the UK. Working as a cashier taught me to think on my feet, keep smiling under pressure, and find a solution when the day had other plans. Customer service turned out to be excellent preparation for running a creative studio.
Alongside that job, I stepped into reprographics—and discovered what happens between “great idea” and “finished product.” Printing methods, production processes, all those easily missed details: I wanted to understand the lot. Working with large branding agencies gave me a look at the thinking behind the designs, too.
With my IT background, web development was a natural next rabbit hole. Design and technology in the same place? I was in. At Grant McCann Erickson, working with artists and creative teams on major-brand briefs added another lasting lesson: get your head around the problem before your hands get busy designing.
Our work began in 2003, with LFD officially registered in 2007. My curiosity kept expanding: branding led to websites, websites led to marketing, and I wanted to understand how the whole thing fitted together.
That’s still the spirit of the studio. I encourage my team to ask another question, explore another possibility, and care about what happens beyond their own part of the job. An idea deserves people who can help it go the distance.
Ceylon Selecta arrived with plenty of quotations and very little clarity. Several web agencies had quoted beyond their budget. They knew they needed a way forward; they just hadn’t found it yet.
So we talked. About the business, the offering, and what needed to happen first. Company names, domain names, branding foundations—the conversation went well beyond a website. Once those pieces started fitting together, the website had a clear job to do.
We helped bring the identity and website together, turning an overwhelming set of choices into a direction they felt proud of. That’s my favourite kind of progress: when “where do we even start?” becomes “yes, that’s us.”
What you can expect from me
Good questions. Straight answers.
01 / An honest opinion
You’ll get my honest take.
If I think an idea could work harder, I’ll tell you—and explain why. You know your business. We know our craft. Putting those perspectives together is where the interesting things happen.
I’ll happily question an idea, including my own. Bring me a better one and I’m listening.
02 / Respect for your investment
Big care. Sensible scope.
The finished design is the bit you see. Behind it are years of experience, careful thinking, and a fair amount of “nearly… let’s try that again.” That care is part of what you’re investing in.
We keep our costs lean and our prices fair. Working with a smaller budget? Let’s work out what matters most, start there, and build thoughtfully.
We can adjust the scope to suit your budget, but we won’t knowingly compromise the quality of what we deliver.
The serious face is usually a good sign. It means I’m listening, connecting the dots, and already exploring how to help. The smile comes when we get it right together.
In our clients’ words
The best part? They come back.
A lot of our new conversations start with “someone recommended you.” Most of our clients keep working with us, too. For a small studio that takes relationships personally, that means a great deal.

★★★★★
“Their creativity, professionalism, and original ideas effectively brought our vision to life.”
The CEO of All Marks International still tells me how pleased he is with the identity we created and the comments it receives. Arinma’s refreshed identity remains in use today. That lasting appreciation is what I hope for with every project.
Projects can bring challenges, too. When a concern comes up, I want to hear it. We listen, take it seriously, and work to put things right. Looking after the relationship is part of the work.
A conversation is a good place to start
Got an idea? Let’s hear it.
A big ambition, a scribble on paper, or a “can you help me figure this out?”—all perfectly good places to start. Bring what you have. We’ll ask some questions, explore the possibilities, and find a sensible next step.
